laptop doesnt make any sense

A couple of years ago, I bought an asus gl553vd which has a

core i7 7700hq (3.6ghz on boost 4c/8t)

16 gb ddr4 2166mhz ram

gtx 1050 4 gb model

I installed rainbow six and cranked the settings all to the max, and was able to run everything on 70-80 fps,

today 2 years later, I cant even run the game at half the resolution, with render scale at 25% and all on low. I noticed that the CPU has dropped down to 1.6 GHz when I had siege open, more info from open hardware monitor and others games is under, was wondering if there is any way I can fix this problem ( and yes newest bios was pre installed as well as NVIDIA drivers)as well as last pic shows pc turbos to 3.6 when idle only

Was this drop sudden (yesterday, it was performing fine, today, it sucked) or is it something that you've noticed over the last two years?

Use ddu to remove the old graphics drivers and then install the newest ones only. Follow this guide if it is your first time using ddu.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Have you cleaned it recently?

Open the back panel and clean the dust out (preferably with a can of compressed air). Maybe, if you have the tools and access, clean out and reapply the thermal compound. See if that helps.

I have cleaned it 4 month ago, when I replaced the hdd with an nvme, and then used a cool hair dryer to remove all the dust. I have not tried replacing the thermal paste however

I have old drivers from around 2018, should I install those instead?

Go to the laptop manufacturer page and download the most recent graphics driver for your laptop that is on there. If the newest one is from 2018, use that but otherwise just use the most recent available.
