PC Upgrade Recommendations

Hello, I want to upgrade my PC but not really sure where to start. I was thinking about upgrading the motherboard, CPU, or case but not really sure which one. Here are my current specs:

i5-7400 3 GHz

MSI B150M Bazooka Micro ATX

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16 GB

EVGA GTX 1060 6 GB

EVGA 430W 80+

It's a pre-built, linked here. Only thing I've added was more RAM and an SSD.

Any suggestions on what to upgrade first? How should I decide on what to get? I'd eventually like to start getting into overclocking but I know I currently can't due to my CPU/Mobo. Thanks!

The i5-7400 is not a great CPU these days (also wasn't so good when it launched) but it sells for close to $100 which is enough to buy a Ryzen 3 3100. I doubt that ram is any fast so you should consider selling it as well and getting some cheap DDR4 3000 or 3200. The 1060 6GB is still quite a good card for 1080p gaming, may not need an upgrade depending on the games and performance target.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

sad fact but you must know overclocking in new cpu might not be faster in games.

start with ryzen 3300x / 3600 with b450 and pair of 3200 mhz ram

definitely factor in a new PSU for the Budget, that is a pretty bad unit if you are going to plan an upgrade.

You can get this and sell your current gear to get the PSU upgrade.

Thank you for the help. The RAM I currently have is 16GB, DDR4, 3000MHz, so I don't think I'll need to upgrade that right now? What would you suggest for upgrading just the motherboard and CPU? $300 USD max?

or you could wait for zen 3, but sell the current board cpu and psu and get a better psu.
