Need help with pc parts list

Budget: $2700 Can go a little over

Country: USA

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: Mw, Rdr2, New Assassin’s Creed, Ark and other AAA titles

Other details: I want to play 1440p 144hz and will need a monitor as well I want the pc to have wifi somewhat portable as I go between houses each week and have at least 3tb of storage I have found a keyboard I like and have a mouse so I only need monitor for peripherals.

This could do the job maybe a 2070 would be better

hmmmm wont that be around when new consoles hit the shelves? ampere should be announced on sep. 9 presumably with rdna 2 close by, and zen 3 is coming soon

GPU: Gigabyte 980ti Xtreme (also placeholder), deshroud w/ generic 1200rpm 120mm fans x2, stock bios 130% power, no voltage offset: +70 core +400 mem 

Memory: 2x16gb GSkill Trident Z RGB 3600C16, 14-15-30-288@1.45v

Motherboard: Asus ROG Strix X570-E Gaming

Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S w/ white chromax bling
OS Drive: Samsung PM981 1tb (OEM 970 Evo)

Storage Drive: XPG SX8200 Pro 2tb

Backup Storage: Seagate Barracuda Compute 4TB

PSU: Seasonic Prime Ultra Titanium 750W w/ black/white Cablemod extensions
Case: Fractal Design Meshify C Dark (to be replaced with a good case shortly)

basically everything was bought used off of reddit or here, only new component was the case. absolutely nutty deals for some of these parts, ill have to tally it all up once it's "done" :D

what are you talking about. 3900x is much better than the 3600 even in games. its not just about multi-core performance. single core matters too. 3900x has better single core perf so its better in games (not just because more cores = better)

The difference in single-core performance between the 3600 and 3900X really isn't as large as you seem to be making out to be.

If anything, you could go with a 3600XT for probably just as small of a single-core bump in performance, but still, strictly for gaming, Intel still is better, so I really don't get your argument of going for a 12-core just for better single-core performance.
