I want to help my brother build a budget PC, but i can't choose a CPU. So between $38 AMD FX 6200 3.8GHz with ddr3 and $95 INTEL Core i3 9100F 3.6GHz with ddr4 wich one should he buy. He won't play anything heavier than minecraft and he wants to make music. For this, will cheaper one CPU be enough or should he buy more expensive one.

Strictly between these two, 9100F any day of the week.

Have you considered the Ryzen 3100 though?

The 9100F is way way faster in every respect.

I'd recommend getting a 10100 so that you can still upgrade, or a 3100 that you can upgrade as well.

the 9100f should be around $72, while a r3 3100 runs about $130 these days... if your budget is really tight and you can't spend the extra $100 for a 10100/3100 and that sorta thing then the 9100f will be perfectly fine. keep in mind that it doesnt have an iGPU, if minecraft is the most intensive thing this pc will see then a 3200g would be a good choice too

topics i need help on:

To be honest depending on the software used for music production, an old office prebuilt with a basic card, a low profile 1050 or 1650 will slot in fine and have him running loads of games for not much more, I say this a lot but old office prebuilts are very good value, you should maybe look into those if you don't mind used parts, but if it's new that's a good CPU, I'd rather a ryzen 3 2200g or ryzen 5 2400g which performs around the same but with much much better graphics performance
