Hey.

No, X58 is LGA1366. The 9400F is on LGA1151v2.

You'll need a new motherboard, though I wouldn't buy a 9400F today. I'd look at a Ryzen 3300X instead.

That's a 12 year old CPU and motherboard. The 9400F definitely isn't compatible, and you'll need a new motherboard, and new RAM.

What is your total budget and where do you live? People on this forum are amazing at recommending parts lists.

Hah, that motherboard is so ancient, you can't.

i7-920 is 10 years older.

You may want a Ryzen cpu instead, go with a Ryzen 5 3600.

9400F is crap.

Do note that you'll also need new memory, since modern platforms are on DDR4, while X58 uses DDR3.

how much money you will spend on this?

If you wan't to get 9400f you'll be spending a bulk of the pc, CPU+Motherboard+DDR4.

^ this.

You could sell the x58 board as they still some value, and then get a 3300x and a decent b450 board and some ddr4 ram.

It's named for the number of pins. Same reason they have multiple versions of the LGA 2011 socket.

Oh I know, I'm just vibing intel for soft-locking 8 and 9
