what language is gonna be transcribed though? handwriting to text is often a hit or miss as it's largely dependent on how legible a person writes

Well, Galaxy tabs are basically the only non-Apple tablets worth having. There's really no competition. If you've already ruled out Apple, it's going to be a Samsung something.

I think the upcoming Galaxy Tab S7 has handwriting to text. The OneNote for Windows 10 also has handwriting to text feature.

Why not Apple? They make great tablets and compared to the competition, it’s not overpriced.
Android tablet wise, the new Galaxy Tab S7 and S7 plus will have the s pen which has a feature that does handwriting to text. But the pencil gets charged in a horrible location (underneath the rear camera).

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

That makes sense. Then her best bet would either be any of the Tab S6 or if she can wait like 2 weeks, the S7s.

Then what you were looking at should be good. The best one I know of that would fit in that budget with room for other stuff is the Tab S6 Lite.

And whats with all the idiots insisting she buy something that she has already explicitly said she doesnt want?

If people cannot respect your decision, you should not respect their opinion

No one was insisting she buy an iPad. I simply asked why she ruled it out and other people only mentioned it.

Most Apps on iPads have this feature.

But Nebo has one of the best handwriting (to machine text) recognitions. so you just need to test it out with the other needed features of the App.

Nebo exists for all platforms if i'm correct.

Agreed. I think Google pretty much gave up on tablets and as a result so it most Android device makers.

Though there is always Microsoft and its surface tablet.

True, but I honestly I don't see a good use case for that. It's not proficient enough to run most real Windows apps, and there's not that many good tablet optimized Windows apps. Even if the hardware is technically quality, the experience is subpar to say the least.

With Google giving up on Tablets the only really good tablet experience is Apple as they seem invested in to the idea. Im not personally a big fan of Samsung Android devices. I always have found their software lacking. Though Im not really a fan of Tablets at all either. I don't see the point. With thin and light laptops/convertibles and Phones at sizes they are now days. Plus if you want to take notes an old fashion notebook and writing utensil is the best, or just use a keyboard. Both those methods work great, I know from my days in college.
