now im not sure if it's the laptop's port that is broken or the hard disk

it's hard to tell unless there's a 2nd PC

but since it's detected, you can try running Crystal Disk Info to check if there are any errors with it

if there isnt any, it's probably the laptop

crystal disk? what is that?

it could mean it's dying, but best way to know is running crystal disk info and let it check the IC on the disk for any error codes and such

-sigh- feeling like I'm being too negative lately

it really does sound like a dying disk tbh

but cant be sure because your laptop's sata controller could be bad too (super rare case)

either bite the bullet and get another drive, or have to test the disk in another PC to know for sure

actually, it might be the sata thing. a month ago i purchased a 4tb external disk usb a 3.0 and after two weeks, it started doing this. it never didn’t show up, but the not responding and slowness. however, i wrote it off as a bad drive.

sata controller doesnt affect USB 3.0

however, chipset does affect both

hmm... u could try updating your chipset driver, see how it goes, u can get it from your laptop's official site

failing this, you might have to contact lenovo
