Rear Fan Grill In Custom Case

startrek03
Go to solution Solved by Guest,

You can get something like this, and put that in a cut out

In the plans for my current custom case plans there's space for two 80mm fans in the back. I don't know, if wanna have one or two fans there, though. The main question, however, is, whether I should buy a fan grill or drill a gazillion holes in the back panel. The latter I did before and the result was sorta ok. Not every hole was perfectly aligned and it took quite some time to make aswell. I'm not completely sold on either solution, probably because on one side I have those typical old fan grills in my mind and on the other side I don't fancy drilling a gazillion holes and knowing at least one of these will be off. Therefore I want to hear your opinions and suggestions on this issue. I'd also be pleased to hear your opinion on the amount of rear fans.

Thanks in advance!

I'd go with something like this.
What Jonsbo did here, is to cut a hole into the back and simply mount a very simple piece of mesh between the rear panel and the fan.

It's really nothing more than this:

So, what you're saying is, that I should make a fan grill out of mesh, right?

I think that's what I'll use, thanks. For whatever reason I didn't think about these standard fan filters...

Yup.
Simple and cheap solution and doesn't look like it's out of the 1990s.
You can also easily paint it, bend and cut it to make it fit nicely.

They did this because of the limited intake. There are no front fans.

Theres one intake fan at the bottom and one at the back. Exhaust at the top.
