whenever I close the lid of the laptop parsec stops streaming the video but the audio keeps going, I would like to use parsec with the lid closed

It's pretty standard for laptops to disable the display when the lid is closed, if there's no display there's nothing to stream.

So you're streaming to the laptop from another computer? In the control panel, make sure that the bottom two settings are set to "do nothing."image.png.2c6faa18579a1826909d56d90f73ced6.png

Parsec likely doesn't support headless operation, so it needs to see a connected and active display. Does your laptop have an HDMI port? Might be worth a shot using a special dummy module to fool the system into thinking it has a monitor.

The things are usually called HDMI Dummy Plug / Dummy Plug 4K / Dummy Plug HDMI 1.4 DDC EDID Headless Ghost Display Emulator
