Is there a way to get Windows 10 from my laptop onto a new dekstop?

I currently have a Dell laptop with Windows 10 Home. I'm wondering if there would be a way for me to get the product key, or find some way to get windows from my laptop onto my new desktop that I'm building, instead of having to pay for a whole new copy of it?

You can, but that doesn't mean you should. It's always a good idea to install a fresh copy of Windows onto a new machine. Just get a cheap key somewhere on run it unactivated

AMD Ryzen 3 3200G / Sapphire R9 290X / 16gb (2x8) Kingston ValueRam @ 2666Mhz / Gigabyte A320M-S2H / Kingston A400 120GB M.2 SSD / WD Blue 2.5" 1TB HDD / Cooler Master MWE450 / Aerocool CS-100 / LG 22MK400H-B 1920x1080 @ 75Hz

Where can I get a cheap key? And is that necessarily a good idea?

Usually on sites like eBay, Kinguin etc. And yes, it's fine, lots of people do it. $200 for Windows is absurd

Around what prices could I get it for, do you think? And I've heard that it's not great to do because it could be stolen or something?

I have got 5 keys from reddit Software Swap (W10 Pro x64 licence for 40eur) and I never had any issues with them for years. That said, you don't know exactly how reliable the seller may be, personally I had no issues yet.

Or how @NZgamer mentioned. You may also find some on Amazon.

Also, you insert a product key when installing windows right? Instead of downloading something from ebay or amazon or reddit or whatever. Just want to make sure.

Do it after it installs directly in the Wimdows.

You don't download anything, you will just get the key. From reddit I got the key in a personal message.

Don't spend over USD10 on a key
