ram usage so high on idle?

My laptop Just started doing this and i dont know why help?

MSI GF 63 THIN 9SC

GTX 1650 MQ

8gb 2667 mhz ram

i7 9750h

Yeah, that's reasonable.  Background processes eat up a lot of RAM and aren't always just doing things when you use them.  They update, run scans, etc.

 

I'd grab another 8GB of RAM, personally.

It's normal. 30% of your RAM is almost always getting eaten up by the OS and basic applications. In your case you have a ton of junk also running so 41% is perfectly normal

You sure? its making my recordings laggy and it has never done that before

Pretty sure it has and you didn't notice. Look at all the processes you installed yourself, Game Manager, Razer software, Dragon something, Nvidia software etc.  The machine has a lot of things to do.  

 

Did you recently install something that boosted the RAM usage?  If it just jumped up, SOMETHING was added.

Nope never recently installed anything

its not makig my recordings laggy sorry its making my games laggy im SURE its not that i have 8gb only that seems stupid for 40% wouldn't that make a 4gb system like 80%

Yeah and that's why a 4GB system is considered unusable beyond just office stuff or web browsing these days.

That's the entire reason 4GB systems are unusable these days. 8GB is the minimum for everything, even office systems. 16-32GB is the recommended spec for 2020

No, I replied that this is normal as software always gets progressively more demanding with time. 10 years ago 2GB RAM was enough. Now, 8GB is not

Something changed, whether it was an update to an existing program or a game library that runs in the background or soemthing.

 

But honestly, its a normal usage amount as you use your machine and cookies and websites do their thing over time. Maybe you went to a new website that imbedded something.

 

We cannot know.  Sorry but you can always turn off all that background stuff and see what makes the biggest impact?
