What does it say?

Is it trying to download it but fails?

Is the installation failing?

Is it saying you don't have permission?

You can always try to run the Windows Update troubleshooter

https://support.microsoft.com/en-ca/help/4028430/windows-10-use-a-fix-it-tool

(Personally, I also need to click on "Additional Troubleshooters" when in the troubleshoot setting to see the windows update one)

Else, forcing the update with the media creation tool is another option (though at that point I would personally suggest making a backup and just reinstalling windows if you're not on v2004 yet. That way you'll be sure there won't be any issues left over)
