RED Digital Camera Accessory Recommendations

I am planning on buying a RED Digital Cinema. I will be buying every part 3rd party, a huge risk but if it doesn't work out I can always resell the part and buy a new one. I plan on buying a Red Scarlet X because it is cheaper than a lot of other cameras on the market. Now for the accessories, I know the basics like the lens and the storage medium but I don't know what else to get. I plan on using the camera on a tripod. Please give some recommendations for the accessories.

Can I ask why you’re getting RED if it’s on the borderline of what you can afford? Maybe getting something a little less... overpriced might be better for you?

I am getting into the RED ecosystem because there is a chance that I might buy an actual 1st party RED DRAGON-X. Based on what you are saying and what I found, maybe a cheaper camera is better because it offers some advantages over a RED camera.

real people know the camera you should get for 6k is the arri classic

sweet 1080p 120 with those colors. (or 2.6k out to an external recorder)

(there are reasons to get others, just for 6k wanting a cinema camera its really hard to be an arri)

More just taking the mick out of red and their £1000 plastic handle. Not into cinema cameras just know RED are far too expensive.

£1000 for an injection moulded plastic handle expensive though? Because with RED it’s not just the cameras it’s all the proprietary BS that comes with it. Remember when Linus did the unboxing and they had a proprietary cable to connect one proprietary interface to a different proprietary interface.

reds the worst at it. (I'd never buy from them its like buying a BMW, always in for repairs) unlike the arri which are dam tanks

I want to use it for YouTube videos, home videos and I am planning on creating a videography company. My grandparents used to do this type of job as a side gig a long time ago when VHS was still relevant.

Think RED would be something you’d build up to as they’re stupidly expensive for all the equipment. And even so there’d likely be better options.

Think people want them because large channels use RED when all of those channels have built up to that and mainly use RED for editing convenience more than actual quality.

that's the thing redcode is a pain to edit. apple prores is easier which is what something like a pocket4k or 6k can spit out. Blackmagic raw is even easier and more space efficient

Thought it was more for LTT that they could shoot at 8K which is easier from an editors perspective when downscaling as more data is retained?

thats all about res, there are other cameras that shoot 5.7k or 6k that could down sample as well if you really wanted that.

But that’s not 8K ;)

In any case I don’t see why people go RED anyway just seems to be a waste of money vs the other options on the market
