No announcement, no press release, Apple just refreshed the iMac and iMac Pro to 10th gen Intel CPU and newer AMD GPU

Like the previously released Macbook Air back in June, Apple just silently refreshed the iMac and iMac Pro line up, with the most notably upgrade for the 27 inch version, which includes

1. 10th generation Intel CPU, from 6-cores i5 to a beastly 10-core i9 10850K (yes, you heard it right, a freaking 10-core 125W CPU comes equipped inside an AIO chassis)

2. Up to 128GB DDR4-2666MHz RAM

3. New generation AMD GPU, ranging from Radeon Pro 5300 to Radeon 5700XT

4. Retina display with 5K resolution, 10-bit color, maximum brightness of 500 nits and, for the first time: Nano texture glass - a feature debuted in the Pro XDR Display, providing glare resistant while retaining the fine detail on the display. This is optional for a whopping 500 bucks

5. Custom Apple T2 chip

6. SSD comes standard on all model, up to a whopping 8TB, with up to 3.4GB/s of read speed

7. Improved FaceTime camera, now goes to 1080p

8. Improved speakers

9. Studio-quality mics

10. Optional 10 Gigabit Ethernet (I can already imagine Linus creaming in his pants if someone send this machine to him with 10Gb Ethernet)

Also, the 21.5 iMacs now comes equipped with SSD on all models as well (but still stuck with 8th gen CPU), and the iMac Pro now comes standard with a 10-core Xeon CPU.

Personally, I think the iMac design is beautiful but extremely dated now, I wish Apple do more than putting new CPU onto these machines every year

Also, it looks like the 21.5 iMac is slowly getting phased out now

Curious to see how they cool that 10-core in there.

I agree that the design is beautiful, but hopefully they do get to shrinking those bezels a little soon. It's not like they can't do it, in fact they've done it both with the Pro Display XDR and the MacBook Pro 16".
