Cheap 650w PSU

Spudwell06

I found some nice ones, but they are now out of stock.

So is there an ATX 650w PSU around £50?

do you need 650w? because wattage and efficiency  have nothing to do with quality.

a 550w is more than enough for any single gpu system.

what are you powering?

If you're looking to get a 650W PSU at 50 quid, then you probably don't need 650W in the first place.

What components are you using?

Desktop: Intel Core i9-9900K | ASUS Strix Z390-F | G.Skill Trident Z Neo 2x16GB 3200MHz CL14 | EVGA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER XC Ultra | Corsair RM650x | Fractal Design Define R6

Laptop: 2018 Apple MacBook Pro 13"  --  i5-8259U | 8GB LPDDR3 | 512GB NVMe

Peripherals: Leopold FC660C w/ Topre Silent 45g | Logitech MX Master 3 & Razer Basilisk X HyperSpeed | HIFIMAN HE400se & iFi ZEN DAC | Audio-Technica AT2020USB+

Display: Gigabyte G34WQC

TLDR: You're probably better off with a competitively-priced 500W unit than a cheap 650W unit that starts putting out shoddy power after 300W and might literally blow up.

As an FYI, most systems won't use that much.

my system for example:
3900x - 130ishW under load at stock - though I usually run undervolted or in 65W mode
64GB RAM - 10W
RTX 2080 - 250W
3 SSDs - 20W

motherboard - 15W

cooling - 10W

That's under 450W. In all likelihood 99% of it's life it's under 400W and 90% it's under 350W. It's really hard to simultaneously max everything out if you aren't running power virus apps (e.g. prime 95, furmark) - seriously... I started playing games again... a lot of the time my CPU load in windows is at 5-10% (and I placed the CPU in 65W mode and set a 100FPS cap via Freesync), I'm probably drawing around 10-15W from the CPU tops and maybe 200W from the videocard. MAYBE... However much DOOM takes.

Speccing systems is about understanding what you need. What you're doing is similar to getting a used dump truck (that's barely works and is likely to break down) to make grocery runs because it has a higher hauling capacity than an Volkswagen or Toyota car.

Understand your use case. Get something that meets your criteria for doing an AWESOME job at the use case. You don't get extra credit for having a higher number on a label.

does each ssd use 20?, what about HDD and peripherals

As said above a 550w is enough for any single GPU system and hdds/ssds and peripherals don't use that much power either way.

What is that? A ryzen 9? So a 12/16 core?

No gpu? If so you won't be able to boot.

Not very detailed. But if you're going for a 12 core/16 core and you're cutting corners like the PSU for example. Then you probably don't need a 12/16 core.

What are you powering? I'm sorry but this days nothing.

still, what cpu?

a system power 9 500w/ cx550 should be good enough, for 40 pounds, there aren't many decent units in all honesty, if you're not going to build it now i would say wait and save up more for a unit.
