Can’t decide which motherboard to get

Hey everyone, I have all my parts to build my pc except the motherboard I am planning to get a second hand B450 Tomahawk Max for 114$ or I could get a B550 Tomahawk or Asus Rog Strix B550-f for both 226$ and unused. Do you think its worth the price difference? I use a R5 3600 and a RTX 2080 Super. There is a high chance for me to upgrade my cpu in 2 to 3 years. What should I do? I don’t overclock my cpu btw. Thanks

If it fits your budget then I'd go for that.

for b550, the tomahawk and the mortar and the a pro and the aorus pro are decent if they're cheaper than the strix f, but thr strix f is also good.

if you can't afford any of these, then the b450 tomahawk max and the mortar and the a pro max (non m) and the pro 4 and the pro vdh max are good.

PC: Motherboard: ASUS B550M TUF-Plus, CPU: Ryzen 3 3100, CPU Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34, GPU: GIGABYTE WindForce GTX1650S, RAM: HyperX Fury RGB 2x8GB 3200 CL16, Case, CoolerMaster MB311L ARGB, Boot Drive: 250GB MX500, Game Drive: WD Blue 1TB 7200RPM HDD.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad.

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).

I can afford all of these but the thing is I don’t want to spend my money on something I don’t need

yea the a pro is really good, if you can then go for it, you could also go with any of the boards i mentioned above, but the a pro is really good as well.

B450 Tomahawk Max should suffice then. They will release a BIOS update for the next-gen CPUs aswell.

If someone did not use reason to reach their conclusion in the first place, you cannot use reason to convince them otherwise.

I didn’t really like the b550-a pro design its really plain has nothing special. The b550 tuf plus has a better design in terms of vrm and quality is the Tuf plus or a-pro better?

i mean, it depends, the tuf does indeed use 10 sic639's iirc while the a pro uses 4 discrete mosfets doubled with ir3598's, but at the same time, the a pro does have some nice features that the tuf doesn't and the a pro's vrm is still good enough for even an overclocked 3950x.

I'm pretty sure you're mistaking the B550-A Pro for the B550M-Pro VDH. The A Pro is on 10 discrete MOSFETs.

Either of them should handle even a 3950X just fine. The TUF has a pretty comparable feature set and rear IO to the A Pro, but it lacks the internal Type-C connector, but if that's not of use to you then the TUF is also a solid choice.

well it's  10 in pairs (so 5) doubled with 3598's...my bad lol.

I also noticed that I checked the wrong Tuf version there is a micro atx and atx version of it the micro atx version of the tuf and the b550-a have the same price the regular atx tuf is very expensive. Is the only difference between the micro atx and the atx version of the tuf the size and 1 less gpu slot?

I'm pretty sure they're identical other than the differences you mentioned.
