Raming speed

What would happen if i use two ram stick at the same time with different frequency. one 1600mhs and the other 2400 in the same motherboard?

Both rams will run at the lowest speed of the bunch, in your example, it would be 1600mhz.

No, why would it?

 

The CPU's memory controller can only run at one speed at a time. So, as @Levent said, the sticks will simply run at the same (lower) speed.

You do know that you can't use DDR3 and DDR4 at the same time, right?

there are DDR3 2400, but good question, not sure if @Lam16 knows

i know, im not using both. my previous pc stopped working when i checked my 2400mhz ram became bricked but my 1600 mhz ram was working. just curious if the ram speed would damage a ram
