What’s considered as a good power supply?

Smokingpc

So I was trying to find parts for a pc I was getting, but I got stuck on the PSU part. I was originally getting the Thermaltake Toughpower GX2, but I saw on the LTT PSU tier list that it’s “Recommended for low-end systems and dGPU”. Now I don’t know what dGPU means but I consider my build fairly mid-range, so is this gonna fry my pc? Or is it fine if I used this. I also found many other lists with different tiers for the same unit. The LTT tier list also marks the GX1 as gold which is apparently one of the best units in the tier, while the GX2 is marked as grey which has various issues. How could they be so different?

Do you recommend those two units?

this is my parts list in case you have better suggestions for the psu. Thanks in advance.

what's your budget? the great thing about a PSU is that you can reuse it in builds, so if you can afford a titanium / platinum PSU, that might not be a terrible idea.

So is it safe and reliable then if so, which model should I use?

I was going for $1000 build but I think it’s gonna turn out to be a little over $1100

no probably, it might struggle with it though. if you dont already have it, then just dont get it, budget for a psu? something like a cx550 as a budget option would be decent.

But isn’t this 80+ bronze? Also I’m probably gonna upgrade it in the future so I want it to last.

Thanks for your suggestions! My budget for it is around $80-$100 and I think I might buy that earthwatt one.

also check the MWE gold or a tx550m or an ion+ or a bitfenix formula gold.

the antec should be on par with the txm (both gold in the same tier) though i am not too farmiliar with the technical details. the focus-GM is the best unit considering its tier A (keep in mind not all seasonic focus PSUs are the same). a 550 watt should be fine

Neo eco gold would be a bit better than the cx.

https://pcpartpicker.com/product/f2qhP6/antec-neoeco-gold-550-w-80-gold-certified-semi-modular-atx-power-supply-ne550g

Appears to be one of the better pickups at this point in time

Technically speaking the cx is 80+ silver. Just isnt rated at that for various reasons.

Its on par or better than lower end gold offerings like the Neo eco Zen gold or similar. Not to be confused with the neo eco gold. Because duck antec and their naming.

It's somewhat easy to distinguish between the two. NeoECO Gold is semi modular and wattages end with x50w, Zen is non-modular and wattages end with x00w

Well, neither of those coolers are available in the wattage I need(which is 550-650), so I’ve settled for an earthwatts gold pro 650w.
