Overclocking a monitor?

Hey so I have an HP w2207h monitor that I connect my laptop to. Its really old and was passed down to me by my father. It's only 60hz and I've been planing on getting a 144hz monitor soon but decided that I'll see if its possible to overclock. After a quick google search, it seems that its possible but risky but I'm not sure if it would work for my monitor. Could someone help me out here? I would just go buy a new monitor but I just bought some PC parts so I think my wallet needs some time to relax before spending more.

Also I would overclock my laptop GL502VSK since its newer and I usually game on it but I think thats a bigger risk compared to an external monitor that is probably going to the bin in a few months anyway (if not overclocked or the oc doesn't make a noticeable difference.)

I've literally never experienced a monitor breaking due to overclocking. Some monitors will let you overclock them to 75Hz (in reality, you're not overclocking your monitor, you're just sending it a 75Hz signal instead of a 60Hz one). If they don't let you, you'll either get a message saying the signal isn't supported and you can just revert your settings, or it'll just downsample it to 60Hz. You can do this through your Nvidia Control Panel by setting a "Custom Resolution" with the refresh rate of your choice. I'm not sure how to do this with Radeon but I know that an Intel GPU won't let you.

Yeah I got a gtx1070, so I just connect my laptop to the mointor thru hdmi and change the res?

It says to go to single display mode right there on that image to unlock that.

my monitor have one of its corner flickering after prolonged OC (60->73)

not sure if it's just coincidence or the OC caused it

I pushed mine from 60 to 67 not a big gain but anything above refused to work... (Nvidia settings or Radeon settings works with both I tested)

Thank you for all your help, was able to get it up from 60 all the way to 75..FOR FREEEE.
