Weird CPU x Mobo comparability

(Asking for a friend) 

My friend got an i5 7th gen working on a Asus Prime H310M-R right out of the box even though it only supports 8th gen and 9th gen  and my friends set up still works till this day.

 

Anyone know having the same set up and also know how was it possible?

Is there a typo somewhere?  You're saying your friend has a 7th gen cpu, and the mobo supports 7th and 8th gen?  What's the issue here lol?

H310 doesn't support kaby lake. Probably not kaby lake. I highly doubt it is.

Peripherals: GK61 (Optical Gateron Red) with Mistel White/Orange keycaps, Logitech G102 (Purple), BitWit Ensemble Grey Deskpad. 

 

Audio: Logitech G432, Moondrop Starfield, Mic: Razer Siren Mini (White).

 

Phone: Pixel 3a (Purple-ish).
