thoughts about the new XT range from AMD

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

As is typical for me, I just bought a Ryzen 9 3900X and then go and find out that a newer version has been released. But after reading about it I have some thoughts. This new XT chip isn't really a new chip, but just the 'best' of the lineup from the 3900 line. So does this mean that the X lineup will decrease in performance as a whole? What I mean by that is before the XT, the range of chips in the 3900X range would include the best ones as well as the ok ones so sometimes you would get a great one that would overclock really well or you would receive a ok one, but now with them cherry picking the best for the XT range does this degrade the X range? Just wondering as I eat my breakfast before I start my days work!

The XT chips are just on the more mature TSMC production. Not really anything special. And barely gives ant performance benifits. And costs a lot more. Nothing special. And it's even worse considering that zen 3 is right around the corner.

I wouldn't consider it..

Fun Fact: The Meshify c is the best case to ever exist.

If you are to lazy or not experienced at overclocking the chip, might as well grab the XT if you do not care much about the extra cost. 😉
