ssd no longer is readable

duhacoolkid

Recently i installed a new nvme m.2 drive, upon starting my computer up one of my ssd's no longer reads.

I havent had a problem with it before. i have looked over numerous help articles but have not seemed to find a viable solution. I have checked cables, both power and data, swapped new ones but it just doesnt read, nor show up in bios. Anyone know a cause or cure, perhaps both? Thanks in advance.

Maybe using that nvme, disable one of the sata ports, try swap sata ports

Can I ask, what are the specs of your PC. I think I read somewhere that on some older motherboards, adding an M.2 drive can "disable" sata ports on the motherboard by design.

Okay, so I quickly looked at the manual for your motherboard, and here is a picture I found. Pretty much, as you can see adding an M.2 drive to the PCIE slot, depending on where you plug it in, can disable other sata ports. However, if you put your M.2 drive into the PCIe slot, you theoretically should not have any disabled Sata ports, based on this diagram. I would make sure that you are plugging in the drive into the M2_1 slot to avoid any issues. Also if you have a Sata drive in the M2_2 slot, please take note of what SATA slots are still enabled or disabled. image.thumb.png.ccc55fd555508673b719b5db3388a0bd.png
