Are there any downsides of using GeForce Experience?

Wouldn't download the drivers from it. And I honestly wouldn't use it at all. 

If you want to download your drivers get them from the nvidea's site.

It's useless and getting the drivers from it isn't really advised. You can use shadow play if you want but that's just about it.

I mean yes. But they usually cause problems from what I have seen.

The only downside is needing to sign in to an account to use it, either create an nvidia one, or tie into existing social media. It provides some OSD info as well as enabling shadowplay so those can be useful. I've had no problems using it to update drivers, either express or clean install, where I can't say the same for AMD's eternally broken mess. I don't use the game setting optimisation thing, and turn that off. I want to choose my settings. Rarely, they offer free games through it.

The only problem I've ever had with GFE personally was forgetting to untick the game optimisation setting and then having to reset everything myself, but that's on me since I couldn't be bothered to pay attention to anything on screen and went for the "press Next until it's done" method.

Other than that, it's worked perfectly fine for me - mainly for Shadowplay, Freestyle (sharpening filters and all that) and driver notifications/downloading.
