While I understand the logic and reasoning here, eventually this could explode into asking for fields for Smarthome devices... It would be cool, but I don't think Invision Power Board is going to field requests like those in my following joke of a question. :D "Can we get fields for my: SmartFridge, SmartToaster, SmartCoffeeMaker, SmartStove, SmartCooktop, SmartCar, SmartOven, SmartSmart, SmartWoodstove, SmartScale, SmartToilet, and SmartDesk?"

As @LogicalDrm posted in the thread linked above, I'm guessing the same answer about using the Interests or About Me fields, or doing what I do: list stuff in my forum signature in a well-organized manner using font colors & sizes that work with both the light and dark theme.

And a smartwach field.

And a subwoofer field.

And a headphone filed.

And a shoe field.

And a 2nd and 3rd keyboard field.

And an IEM field.

And a medicine filed.

And a vitamins field.

And a preferred water brand field.

And a Tinder field.

At some point we should just abolish most of those fields and just point people to our 'about' portion of the profile where you can show off all the stuff you have

Pretty much this. Considering how tech world has changed in 7 years forums been a thing, there could be well of reason to redo whole profile. So that as starting point:

  • Rather than have huge list of contact methods, have them open by clicking icon for each. Or something as they really don't need to be visible all the time.
  • Big boxes for bulk stuff. Systems, peripherals, displays, laptops/tablets/phones, camera & audio gear, hobby stuff (3D printers, drones etc.)
  • Plus the About me which could hold all the stuff now held in Biography, Interests and About Me.

A phone field probably makes sense (it is possible to add a field for phone without adding a field for smart toaster). Ideally it would be freeform key/value, but that isn't particularly easy to implement so probably won't happen.
