new drive for steam library on laptop

mictec

Hi Guys,

My laptop has m.2 WD Black sn750 boot-drive and an empty 2.5 inch bay. i wanted to add another drive for my steam library. i was looking at an Seagate Firecuda gaming 2tb for $99 or a Crucial mx500 2tb for $230. do you think the sdd is worth the extra $130 for a steam library?

thanks

I wouldn’t spend that much more for a ssd for games. Get a hdd for bulk storage of games and keep the most played games on the ssd.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

Quote or tag me so I can see your response

I would the $67 difference is not that big and you get such a big improvement (maybe that difference is higher for you because tax/shipping)

Reminder⚠️

I'm just speaking from experience so what I say may not work 100%

Please try searching up the answer before you post here but I am always glad to help

I also agree with @zeusthemoose. I would just get a cheaper HDD if you are planning on using this to store your game files. If you are really adamant about getting an SSD, then you can go ahead and do so, but honestly I would not recommend it unless you have a bunch of games you play on a regular basis.
