gpu dummy buyer question

I want to upgrade my rx 580 8gb for a better 1440p card, to play shadow of the tomb raider and borderlands 3 on high res.

if i dont care about rtx, is there really a reason to buy the 20s? or if i buy like a 1080 or a 1660 its better than 2060 or 2070 (all variants)

and should i go for rx 5600/5700 xt? cause i dont really care about streaming on it

hmmm, you're right, itll drop in prices.. but dont they release cards on april (next year)?

but i dont know if getting the higher end cards (like 2060 or 2070) will do better than like 1080 super or 5600 xt if i dont use the streaming nor rtx

When a new gen launches this RARELY drops current gen prices, especially on the Nvidia side of things. They simply slow down then stop production of current gen products then at launch there is nearly no old stock left. I cannot recall seeing a big drop/sale on Nvidia GPU's outside of some seasonal offers (Black Friday, boxing day etc).

 

If you cannot wait to buy get an RX 5700XT it nears the 2070S at 2060S prices (often less), otherwise wait for next gen and buy a used GTX 1080Ti or RTX card, OR a new gen RTX 3xxx or Big Navi.

What @BlueScope819 is saying is that say you wanted to buy a 2070 now, you could instead get the next generation version of the 2060 (3060) which should have about the same performance as 2070 for the price of the 2060.

Nothing official but my guess is announced late august to early September and available for purchase late September early October.
