NAS parts list and suggestions

Hey everyone

I've finally decided to build myself NAS and after some research I decided to go with unraid for simplicty when adding new drives and expanding. My parts list is here https://pcpartpicker.com/list/99wLQq :

- R3 3200G

- Whatever cheapest mITX mobo I can find

- 8 GB of RAM

- Seagate Ironwolf Pro 6TB (3x now but eventually I'll max the case out so that's why Pros and not normal)

- Silverstone CS380B

- SFX PSU from reputable brand

Do I need HBA or something like that as well? I'm not convinced plugging drives into mobo is the best idea for some reason. Second question is do I need CPU with on-board graphics or can I save some money there? Third question would be is Ryzen even good choise? I really don't want to deal with any troubleshooting/down-time as I use it also semi-professionally so Intel maybe for that reason?

Any other suggestions are welcome as well :)

Best

Mondrayy

Purpose? If only file storage, i think you can opt to an Athlon 3000, less power demand.

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

Today only file server but not sure about future tho upgrades can happen when demands rise. Is Athlon 3000 on Zen? Not up to date with so low end CPUs

Athlon 3000 same Zen+ as 3200g, just less cores, only 2, and only 35w tdp.

I think it's enough for file storage for less than 10 users. And in the future you can just upgrade to a better cpu.

If you have enough onboard SATA ports thats fine. HBA's are great for Virtualisation as you can pass the entire card through to VM's. Typical cards support at least 8 devices and can be expanded which is what makes them great, but for 3 drives your motherboard is just fine for now. You can always get an HBA later when you max out your native ports.
