what tech products have you stopped using during quarantine?

Ashley MLP Fangirl

I'm still using my laptop quite often, as it's convenient and has a microphone and webcam which are sometimes necessary. I have, however, almost completely stopped using my headphones, because I use them to listen to music while cycling to the station/university/home and while I'm in the train, and I haven't had to do to that much the past while. :P It's not really tech that we can do something with here, but I also haven't been using my electronic travel card much.

On the other hand, I've started using my desktop much more, now that I'm not at university all the time. :P It's really nice to be able to work from multiple large monitors, rather than a single 15.6" monitor.

PC SPECS: CPU: Intel Core i7 3770k @4.4GHz - Mobo: Asrock Extreme 4 (Z77) - GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 680 Twin Frozr 2GB - RAM: Crucial Ballistix 2x4GB (8GB) 1600MHz CL8 + 1x8GB - Storage: SSD: Sandisk Extreme II 120GB. HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB - PSU: be quiet! Pure Power L8 630W semi modular  - Case: Corsair Obsidian 450D  - OS: Windows 7

I know this is about what you stopped using. But I ordered myself a e-reader (kindle paper white) and have been reading a TON more. If only I could import stuff from bookwalker onto it.

My laptop because I do everything on my desktop.

Sometimes I use it to play games, but for most of the lockdown I haven't used it.

It's probably because not everyone is "looking for the advantages of laptops". What I mean with that is, I like to use my laptop on my bed or take it around the house (to show someone something) and (that combined with) the touchscreen and touchpad make it often really convenient to use - but not everyone will have these same needs.

Awh, that sucks! My battery fortunately still works, but even so, I often have it charging on my bed, works just fine. :) (only on my second or third motherboard (yes I'm on my fourth motherboard in less than a year, yes it's ridiculous) I had a small issue with the charger unplugging slowly)

HP Zbook X360 G5, bought new in mid 2019. It's a decent machine, but I'll soon have to get my 5th motherboard, 4th keyboard/topcover, and 3rd screen. :P At least these repairs are covered by its warranty. :)

My "outside earbuds".

I have several pairs of earbuds and headsets, some I take with me wherever I go, and others that never leave my desk. However, since quarantine started, when I go out, I try to touch as few things as possible.

Cleaning in-ears every time I have to go outside has been enough of a pain that I just don't bother listening to music anymore now 🤷🏻‍♂️

I've barely used my Xbox, too. But my laptop has been getting waaaaaaaaaaaay more usage 🤔

And that'll probably be the trend since I'll both be upgrading my laptop, as well as starting school again soon.

mostly stopped using my laptop, except for my online "schooling" (it pretty much taught nobody anything). It can't even really run settings without almost crashing, so that's why I just stopped trying, and now I'm looking for a new one.

I've been working since this pandemic started. For my birthday I had bought a Wacom tablet for digital drawing, but I lost the desire for that hobby for some reason; so it's sitting by my gaming desktop that I've been using still at least. Glad I invested in that desktop because my classes will be online thanks to fricking Covid. I bet MATLAB will look much better on it than the laptop I gave to a family member.

Yeah haha, it's a pretty bad laptop (Celeron N4000/dualcore @1.1, no fans, 4gb of ram, 32gb storage, 768p awful panel, touchpad is super unreliable, etc)

I completely stopped using it for a couple months, relying exclusively on my phone and Xbox.

The Asus E203M has been my fault driver for nearly 2 years, and for $200 it's, uh, exactly what you'd expect.

Although I'm planning on upgrading soon, and I'll end up putting a lighter Linux distro on the little laptop that could 😂

ew ew ew ew ew

just buy something used if you only have $200. you can buy a thinkpad or elitebook for that with a core i5, 8gb of ram and an ssd.

Not really much I've stopped using. I've switched from a laptop to a desktop setup, but given I dock my laptop rather than having a separate machine, the same hardware is still in use.

Thanks for reading all this by the way!

By the way, my desktop is a docked laptop. Get over it, No seriously, I have an exterrnal monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset, ethernet and cooling fans all connected. Using it feels no different to a desktop, it works for several hours if the power goes out, and disconnecting just a few cables gives me something I can take on the go. There's enough power for all games I play and it even copes with basic (and some not-so-basic) video editing. Give it a go - you might just love it.

Facebook. Although it's admittedly just a coincidence that I stopped during quarantine.

By now the 30 days ought to be up and the account ought to be permanently deactivated.
