PC upgrade for content creation and work

current pc has 7th gen i7 and gtx 970 with 16 gigs of ram. Wanna double the ram, upgrade cpu and buy a compatible motherboard. pc will be used for content creation using adobe after effect and premier pro as well as plenty of 3D

stuff using autodesk maya. 

 

need help for selecting the cpu that will run the above mentioned apps the best. left with only 2 options within budget.

 

i7 9700k or r7 3700x?

well 9700k is the ONLY i7 that doesn't have hyper threading but 3700x has 16 threads and for your type of workload 3700x is better

i heard that adobe software are optimized for intel whereas ryzen 7 handles 3d workload better due to high logical core count. As i want both type of software run as smooth as possible within budget, the dilemma of choosing the appropriate cpu occurred.
