Samsung Odyssey G9 2xdisplay Port

Nicklah

Hey

I was wondering with the new Odyssey G9 that has 2 Display Port 1.4 connections whether it is possible to connect both of them to your video card and tell windows its 2 monitors side by side so that you can run it at 240hz while also having 10bit color (since its outputting 1440p 240hz on each cable not 5120x1440 on one cable). Would you get functionally the same screen just with double the bandwidth available?

Didn't the Linus review mention that?

I don't know, but the Dell and LG super ultra wide monitor (same but without HDR, massive curvature, just 60Hz, IPS instead of PVA) you can.

I preordered the Samsung G9 and was curious about the same question.

I got a reponse from the Samsung Swiss Social Media Team on Youtube.

If you want to use 240HZ, you need DSC - only supported by NVIDIA 20XX generation and the latest AMD chip. With any other card (as I use 1080TI SLI) you can only reach 120HZ.

The 2 DP inputs are just for 2 different sources and can't be combined.

Seems we all may need an upgrade to the new NVIDIA 30XX generation.

Never pre-order a display. Ever

You have absolutely no idea how it performs. Specs are very misleading and missing a ton of important information.

Even what we do know isnt a good sign. Its a VA panel, far to slow for 240hz, and its local dimming is only 10 zones and edge lit. being VA also means the HDR wont be 'full' HDR as its highly unlikely it will have 90%+ DCI-P3 color coverage.

Wait for 'proper' reviews from the like of rtings  and tftcentral. etc

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=burNkdZG0Bs&feature=emb_title gave me the best insight till now.

Of course a test at prad.de or https://www.tftcentral.co.uk/ is way better.

I always order these technical stuffs at Amazon. If it doesn't fit my personal needs I can return it without problems. But to be honest: I always like to test these things on my own if they fit my needs - I was let down by various tech-sites in the past.

If thats the way u want to go then go for it , but i advise against it.

That vid was nothing more than an unboxing and regurgitation of the spec sheet. The video is fine for what it is, but people need to understand WHAT it is. its a sponsored overview and unboxing. Thats all.

I invite you to read through the below pinned thread. As it details information you should know before purchasing a display.
