How is this possible,d15 didn’t perform as good as 34 esports duo

thirdparty

I know the fan configuration is the cause but I am very surprised that d15 actually performed worse despite its massive size.

with 34 esports: cpu max temp for fpu 73 (20min), vram 48

with d15 one fan:  cpu max temperature fpu 76(just for a while tho, maintained 74 through 15 minutes test), vram 53

The d15 is used and has 1 bent fin due to the courier. I cant fit second fan at the back due to vram heatsink nor the front due to 50mm ram lol.

Well, you can have all the fins in the world but if there's no (or just not enough, in this case) air going through them then of course they won't work to their full potential.

Yeah I thought two 140mm front intakes and 120mm exhausts right next to the cooler will help. I am wrong :(

Those definitely serve their purpose but you can't rely only on your case fans to move air efficiently through your CPU's heatsink.

Heatsinks optimised for running passively have a much less dense fin arrangement, but the D15 and and most heatsinks you can buy don't fit into that category, so they need fans directly attached to their fin stacks to run optimally.

But still I thought d15 “s” will outperform a budget cooler.

Could be a damaged heatpipe on the D15

The heatpipe looks fine tho,any way to check it?

NH-D15 or NH-D15S, which one are you using?

Are you checking clocks and voltages while testing? Ryzen boosts harder if it has temp headroom, it might be seeing lower temps and boosting higher with the D15

D15 should perform much better if there is a high enough heat load on it. If its some 100W cpu, Arctic could perform better due to higher speed fans.

D15 boost lower actually, 4050 mhz when running fpu but 34 duo can do 4075

Both spin at 1000 rpm because of the fan curve i set so

Check your Tim application. Im not surprised to hear this to be honest. Most high end coolers are made for intel, not AMD. How can I be so sure? Most higher end heatsinks are machined with a convex base, great for intel, not so good for AMD and their flat ihs. Lapping the cooler will get you where you need to go if you do it right.

Touch it and compare with the rest. If it's noticeably colder, there might be something wrong.Though I admit it's just an idea, can't guarantee it's the proper way to check.
