monitor color question

should i be using neutral colors or custom rgb set all at 265? for the best real color im supposed to be getting

Depends on the monitor and of course you. The existing sets/modes are made by professionals, but that doesn't mean everything.

I ve had an LCD panel that had good modes and I chose my favorites, my brother has it now and likes, for example, the reading mode that I have never used.

Now I have a VA panel that all presets are b.s so I ve had to decrease red color to make it bearable. Still a VA anyway.

Also calibration is a thing and many professional do it on their professional monitors.

Not a pro, not even very good.  I’m just old and have time currently.  Assuming I know a lot about computers can be a mistake.
