USB3.1 Gen x MSI X370 Gaming Plus

On my old R5 1600 the motherboard lists x4 of the ports are from the CPU and are 3.1 Gen 1

But now I am on a R5 3600 are these 4 USB3 ports now gen 2 or still limited to gen 1 due to something on the board?

I would of thought the USB controller is in the CPU these are now running at Gen 2 speeds vs Gen 1 but maybe I think wrong.

My guesstimation would be that the BIOS would tell the CPU what version of USB to run on those ports (or the CPU would otherwise poll the chipset for version info).

Much like PCIe G3 vs G4 on old motherboards, you can't assume that a 3.1G1 trace is automatically good enough for 3.1G2, and so I would assume they would drop to G1 speeds one way or another.
