Recommend $1000 Gaming Laptop

Hello all.

I have a friend who may need a new laptop soon and asked me for recommendations.  She asked for a gaming laptop around $1K.
I know she plays a lot of League of Legends, but try's other game's from time to time.  She will need it for work as well.  I was thinking a 1080p machine would suffice.

Does anyone have any good recommendations?

Depends how portable she would like it to be. Over ~2cm height there are loads of options. Lenovo Legion, Asus Tuf(have some notable issues), Acer Nitro/Helios are all worth looking into.

If you want a slimmer more professional machine, it gets harder at this price point. Can settle for integrated graphics in the new Ryzen 4000 U series, or an mx250/350 or look for a 1650, like in the Asus G14 and MSI Prestige (these two are a bit pricier but will perform better)

General advice when buying;

-Try and look for a ryzen 4th gen CPU - offers great performance, battery life and well priced

-Look up independent reviews on areas such as the display. The display is often where cheaper laptops cut corners

-Watch out for Max-Q GPU variants and GPU power limits. A Max-Q GPU is not necessarily bad, but will perform worse than a non-maxq model. For example, a 1660ti with a high power limit may out perform a 2060 maxq. This is also often not listed by manufacturers, so again, look up reviews

-I recommend sites like Notebookcheck, Jarrod's Tech and Dave Lee for reviews

Why doesn't she just build herself a PC?

I suggest an Asus ROG laptop for her

or a Lenovo Legion is also pretty good

I suggest her to get an Asus ROG laptop

It's what she asked for.  She likes to travel a lot, and has jobs that require her to be all over.
