Is it true adding more NVMe SSD cards in the M.2 slot will disable SATA ports?

Someone said if I put 3x NVMe SSDs in my z390 MEG ACE that it will disable some of the SATA ports..is that true?

 

If so, what’s the point in including them if they can’t all work at once?

i can't say i've ever come across this myself, the usual thing is plugging sata m.2's in will diable ports

Oh ok thanks! I know what you mean because SATA M.2s will actually occupy the slot but someone told me putting in another M.2 NVMe will disable one of my HDDs SATA ports.

It does but you need to read the manual for that to know which one disable which SATA port.

Yes its a thing, bandwidth is not infinite, and not everybody uses NVMe.

I might just have to get larger drives. Like maybe replace my 1 TB WD Blue HDD with a 4 TB WD Black HDD or something like that.

Why go up into my attic, find my mobo case, take the manual out and flip through pages when someone who knows what they’re talking about and is willing to help could answer my question in like 2 minutes?

LOL... always worth keeping manuals more readily to hand than 'in the box'.

I just moved though and my room is much smaller so the gf said I had to put all my computer component boxes in the attic :/. I save all the boxes and documentation but I just figured I could ask someone who could answer it quickly rather than go up the ladder and through all those spider webs.

Because what M.2 slot disables what SATA port is not standard, every motherboard does it differently, so everyone answering would basically be doing what you could've done in the first place - check your specific motherboard's manual.

I have the manuals for the last 4 'boards I've used on a book case beside me.
