ECC/Registered RAM Compatible?

Hi, I just wonder if ECC/Registered ram will work in a hp compaq elite 8300 sff motherboard with a i5-3470. I don't care if ECC runs or not i just wonder If I can just use the ram or not because it is so cheap.

I'm pretty sure registered RAM needs a specific memory controller to operate correctly. If it were unbuffered ECC RAM, then it will work fine (the extra ECC bit gets ignored).

NO. i7 doesn't support ECC.

Tha't why ECC is cheap, nobody wants it. Only for servers.
