What are the timings? I think you can get the faster one to run at a slower timing but I have not done it/heard of it.

Then in that case, they should work.

Hi! I want to upgrade (or should I say rebuild) my computer. I want to go from my intel i5-7500 to AMD ryzen 5 3600, so I'm planning on replacing the MB (ofc!), the cpu and the ram (my current ram is ballistix sport 2X8 ggs 2400 mhz, too slow for amd...). Can I buy the new ram (Corsair Vengeance LPX 2x8GB DDR4 3200MHz) and use it on my current computer while I save money for the other parts?

If you take the old RAM out then yes.

Please mention or quote me if you want a response. :)

Are you asking if its possible to mix the ram or if its possible to use the new ram while you wait for the rest of the parts?

I think its possible to mix these. The 3200mhz will be downclocked to 2400mhz. I dont know about the timings though, that might make it not work.

I am far from an expert in this so please correct me if I’m wrong.

I don't mind that they will all work on 2400 for now, I just want that first experince of 32 ggs on one computer! When I'll have the other parts I wont take the ballistix (the slower) ones.

You can try and pop all 4 DIMMs in and see if the system boots. If it does at there's no instability then it's probably gonna be fine.
