These look pretty good, anyone here pick one up yet? Would like some end user feedback.

They're pre-order. Not fully released yet.

I budget build well. Want to learn? PM me if you want advice.

@LinusTech You should do a video comparing this, the 840 EVO, the 840 Pro, the Extreme II, and the Hyper X 3K.

My thoughts precisely!

I'd also like to see "As fast as possible" video on SSD controler, iops etc etc. Too many people ask me and I don't understand it enough to re-explain it.

Isn't that what PcIe SSd are for?  It be wonderful when those price comes down, which won't be anywhere near my lifetime. (I'm 31)..so in the next 20 years or so. I doubt i'll see it where it would prove use to my age in my 60s to 70s...

They are to pricey for me. Ill stick with x4 Samsung 840 Evo 500GB (2TB Total) in RAID0. One 840 Evo 500GB only costs $280 on amazon.

EDIT: But now that I think about it, if I have the money left over from the 900D build, ill buy 4 of the 480GB drives for RAID0. Ill put them in the 900D Build. We will see I guess.

I'm happy with my Intel 520, it STILL boots faster than windows can load. Although it's completely filled.

Youtube would break as I go to watch this..

Edit: Why does the main post say this was posted on Feb 28th of this year at 3:01 AM? Did I miss this post 2 weeks ago? And I know the video was just uploaded.

SSD designs look (Sometimes) really slick, case manufacturers should give us the option to have them on display should we so choose

Personally I'm still going to get a second HyperX SSD when I go to set up SSD Caching, but that's more brand loyalty than anything. And by brand loyalty, I mean they support my favourite e-sports teams, which is reason enough for me to buy their ssds over Intels.

Props to Intel though, they know where their strengths lie and what each target audience comes to expect from an SSD. I'm just hoping they can figure out how to make large drives cheaper

With the endurance these have, they would make great Adobe Scratch drives! I'm using a WD Blue 640gb (pretty old) as my Source, project, and my render drive, and the read speeds are pretty terrible. I know I shouldn't be using the same drive for all that.

cause its not competeing with the evo in the least as that is samsungs budget offering. Its competitors are the 840 pro as well as the highest end offerings from plextor and sandisk. You could put ocz's newer offerings in there but the company is a mess at the moment. The thing is is that to get full perfomace with the 730 you really need the 480gb. Also even the 240gb is priced a good bit above the competition.

When I got my 120GB Intel X25-M, it was the most expensive component in my computer. Later on, when I got my 120GB Intel 520 series SSD, it was the most expensive component in my next build (yes, it wasn't an expensive build).

Right now, I'm still running two 120GB Intel 520 SSDs. I swear by Intel SSDs!

Storage people take note: This would be a good drive for a ZFS Intent Log or a scratch disk.

I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason and intellect has intended us to forgo their use, and by some other means to give us knowledge which we can attain by them. - Galileo Galilei

Sorry!

I only said that it costs 2x more then Evo and i dont think that this SSD would start up the Pc 10 seconds faster then a evo, maybe 2-3 sec faster is that worth the double price?

I am not against 730 series, if i would have money to it i would spend on it,
