What GPU to buy under £400*

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

Price point should be close to £350 ideally, going to be used for streaming, watching movies and gaming. Will be buying a 27 inch 144hz 1440p monitor or a 144hz 24 inch 1080p... not sure on that part but suggest me a GPU :)

Well, it depends on what kind of gaming experience you want. If you were to get the 1440p 144hz monitor, I would suggest something like the RTX 2070S, which is nicely priced at $500. That is out of your price range a little bit, so if you were looking for 1080p 144hz gaming I would suggest a 5700 with an aftermarket cooler flashed to a 5700XT.

5700 XT would be my choice with that budget.

The XT version is considerably faster than the non-XT version. The RX 5700XT is close to a 2070 Super's performance while a non-XT is close to a 2060's performance.

I have the Powecolor RX 5700 XT Red Dragon and highly recommend it.

If you get a RX 5700 and flash to XT - you will void your warranty so is a risk.

I've got a QHD monitor and games run very well.

If you can get for a good price go for it - drivers have been sorted.

Clock speeds, I’ve made a guide on flashing a card to a 5700xt if you’re interested in flashing there’s a few cards I can recommend.
