Will this PSU work?

So I got this power supply from a friend, it was from a dell pre built. It says 256 watt

 

A. Can I use this thing on a 142 watt system?

 

B. Will it exploded? 
 

C. Is this a dumb idea?

 

D. Can I do any sorta over clocking on this?

If the system needs this much then no 

How did you get a wattage reading that's so specific like this ?

Seriously though, for as bad a rep as prebuilt PSUs get, it's not in the best interest of OEMs to be replacing systems and taking RMAs because they knowingly included a dud. Will it power a 156W system? Sure. A hamster wheel hooked up to a magnet could do that. I wouldn't count on that PSU for too long, but until the current bout of pricing insanity dies down, it'll do.

Aerocool DS are the best fans you've never tried.
