CPU reaching 80-85 temp while gaming

Just curious, what motherboard were you using with your FX-9590?

 

 

My FX-8350 pushing all-core 4.8 / 4.9 / 5.0 GHz with an air cooler.

Then again, 2x static pressure 120mm fans on the tower cooler in push-pull, rear 120mm exhaust, bottom intake, and another 120mm in the 5.25" optical bay.

220mm fron intake, 200mm side intake, 230mm top exhaust. 

 

 

Yeah...5.0 GHz all-core with 1.5V making the CPU max out at 82*C+ .

 

 

And then 4.9 GHz, topping off at 62*C in Firestrike...at the time.

 

 

Chip degradation is far more of a problem than thermal throttling. Have fun with a dead CPU very soon.

I've already upgraded the FX-8350 to a i7-6800K back in 2017 .... and to my current i7-8086K (since the i7-6800K died in early 2019).

FX-8350 system has been sitting in the corner since.

 

Now it's just more of a sentimental piece of silicon...a CPU that was able to touch the heels of 5.0 GHz.  

Next to my Athlon XP 1700+ T-Bred revision CPU.

@Joshjb60, please don't understand the following words as an insult: 

 

I highly doubt someone who plays "Drug Dealer Simulator" and does not know what push/ pull config means intends to overclock the CPU. From my understanding the OP simply want's to run his CPU at stock speeds under reasonable temps. And a decent air cooler easily does this, I used to run a FX-8350 myself using a Zalman air cooler and I never had any temperature issues.

Just as I thought: Your CPU cooler gets no fresh air at all. It draws very hot air with absolutely no cooling capacity directly from the GPU. No wonder your temps are horrible. You need to rotate the cooler 90 degrees so it draws fresh air from the front. But I can see that this could be problematic since in the picture it looks like the cooler might not fit when rotated. So what I would do is the following:

 

1. Remove the top black fan in order to be able to rotate the CPU cooler 90 degrees counter clock wise.

2. Refit the translucent top fan so it pulls in fresh air from the top because your case has terrible air flow and the CPU desperately needs fresh air.

 

Alternative solution if the cooler can be rotated without removing the top black fan:

 

1. Rotate the CPU cooler 90 degrees counter clock wise.

2. Refit both top fans so they pull in fresh air.

 

In both cases make sure the back fan actually exhausts hot air (it looks like from the dust buildup). Also check if the CPU cooler fan is configured to pull fresh air and push it through the cooler.

So I can’t do this as I can’t rotate my cpu as the the black part I attach the heat sink to doesn’t fit that way. What can I do?

I have put 2 fans at the top of the case pulling through and then I have 2 intake fans at the front of the case and the exhaust fan is pulling hot air out. Because then the cpu fan is pushin hot up the top case fans to be pulled out and exhaust to help do this and fresh air to be pulled through the front. Is this correct?

I do not take it as an insult I do know what it mean push the air through and pull it out yes I didn’t read it right. I know About computers I just didn’t know what was wrong with it, pls read my latest pictures and descriptions I have explained. Thanks for helping me also I appreciate it a lot

Isn't that the mounting system that comes with the motherboard and is intended for the stock cooler (it has been a while since I last handled a FX CPU)? You need to remove it and use the mounting  system provided with the 212 Evo cooler. It most certainly let's you rotate the cooler since mounting horizontally so it pulls fresh air from the front is the standard way of mounting an air cooler.

im sorry for waisting yout time, i think i fiund the problem it was the grills on the roof of my case not letting the hot air exit i removed them and im getting around 45c while gaming

Glad it works now. But if you want to further optimize the temps I'd rotate the cooler nonetheless. Cooling the CPU with hot air from the GPU is still less than ideal.
