550W enough for R5 3600 + 5700xt?

Hi all, I'm looking to upgrade my gpu soon and I've been looking at the 5700xt. Online shops say that a 600W power supply is recommended but when I put my system into a PSU calculator it comes in at around 450W-500W with the 5700xt. Am I okay to purchase? I can provide full system specs if necessary.

550W is fine as long as it is a quality PSU, you likely will not draw over 350W MAX at full load. PSU calculators also over estimate as they calculate the "draw" by adding the max draw of each component, but in the real world all components never would simultaneously draw at the max. What is the PSU model you are looking to get?

As you found, it's not recommended, but if it's anything higher than a bargain-basement quality of PSU, it will be fine. I run a 2600 and 5700 (non-xt) on a Corsair 450 watt SFX PSU and it's just peachy.

The absolute maximum you can ever pull with that system is about 350-400W. 550 is fine. Just get a good quality unit

I already have an EVGA 550 N1, it is NOT 80+ certified at all

EVGA N1 and W1 are horrid and have killed hardware frequently on this and other forums. Replace it as soon as possible.

Well what would you recommend? Having to replace my PSU is not ideal but it's a better option than a fried part.

The N1 is a fire hazard.

Budget isnt too much of a concern but aesthetics are. I want something with all black cables and modular or semi modular. As long as I'm not paying a crazy uplifted price I'll be fine
