Even compared to the songs they had with Dua Lipa (Kiss and Make Up) and with Lady Gaga (Sour Candy), this was very Americanised in terms of both vocals and music. It isn't per say bad but vocally they seemed like they were imitating Selena Gomez.

Also, yay, Jisoo had at least one complete line of English, and it sounded pretty decent 🥳

well in my opinion you don't have to understand the lyrics to like the song. Take despacito for example. Nobody understood it but it is the highest viewed music video on youtube

Please, half the "metalheads" out there claim to like Rammstein and I'm certain that at least 70% of the people don't even understand the lyrics the slightest bit. Listening to music doesn't really require knowledge of the language. See for example: Opera. People back then listened to operas before they were translated, and I'm sure that no one in Italy knew what was going on when they heard Wagner or Mozart (at least his German works), the actors have to portray the emotion and the meaning not just with words, but with their voice (tone, colour). I heard a renowned operatic soprano talk about this that said: Due to the fact that they have to enunciate way above their speaking range, it can get really hard and that it is usually a decision based on the line whether they prefer to perfectly pronounce/enunciate the word, or if they're going more for the tone, as the tone can say more than a thousand words. So even in classical music the word isn't always first.

I also listen to Russian music or the occasional K-Pop. I understand neither. I also listen to a ton of French music, and while I understand French at least partly, I have plenty of trouble with, say, Mylène Farmers more eloquent and poetic lyrics. That doesn't mean that I don't like it.

I'd expect you as -based on your location- a US-American to understand the lyrics of an English-speaking band from the USA. 🤣

Yeah, lyrics mean a lot to people, that's why so many listen to rap. I listen to hip-hop/rap for its basslines, not for the mostly vulgar, agrressive lyrics. While I like voices, I don't explicitly always listen to the lyrics, especially on more danceable songs that have minimalistic lyrics that have barely any content, but for me it's a case by case basis. Neither one of the operatic constructs "prima le parole (words first)" or "prima la musica (music first)" applies to me, they both have their place to be and I have to like both (although on hip-hop/rap songs, I barely listen to the lyrics because it's usually too obscene, that's practically the only exception). Even the creation of songs is barely specifically starting with either construct and no song (unless it isn't an instrumental or an a cappella piece) is meant to be stricly focussed on one or the other. That's for example why I don't listen to any sort of metal, it's way too loud and aggressive for me and the lyrics aren't really my thing either. I can appreciate a few songs, but that's all.
