Serial 3m touch panel + Rpi

I have an old 15" 3M glass panel with a EXII-7720SC board that seems to be serial. Is there any way of getting it working with a raspberry pi by hooking it up to the gpio pins or would it need a serial to usb adapter?

Plan was to mod that glass panel into an old 15" lcd screen with an rpi hidden inside for a big Stream-pi

Their driver page doesn't seem to have much for linux, let alone arm.

@Sealance you could try USB-to-Serial adapter or a serial pi hat (no personal experience with this). The drivers are probably going to be a hassle, but someone on the Gentoo forums appears to have it working (who knows what hardware that's on, but the post is from 2013). 3M has a Drivers and Utility page and a Resource Library that you might be able to look for more info. Maybe see if you can successfully install the MicroTouch software?

Good luck!
