About dual & quad channel

Recommended Posts

Posted · Original PosterOP

I saw in a previous post that four ram sticks can run in dual channel. How does that work? Do i have to make any changes after installing them to my motherboard?

I have a B450 gaming pro carbon ac motherboard with a ryzen 3700x chip at the moment.

Thank you.

2 sticks per memory channel, no software configuration needed because that's bound by memory traces and you have no control over that.

This platform as a whole only supports dual channel RAM.

First channel is 1st and 2nd slot, Second channel is 3rd and 4th slot. That's why you see slot 2 and 4 used the most.

2 sticks per channel

Same bandwidth as with 2 sticks just more capacity

And the 3700x only has 2 memory channels

Nothing you can do about that

Fun Fact: The Meshify c is the best case to ever exist.
