Ps4 1st gen thermal throttling

BigRecoiilz

Im playing fortnite on my ps4 temporarily and even though it's only 60 fps, i can really tell the difference when it underclocks and hits 45-50fps. The fan also gets really loud. Please help! I think I need to clean it but i dont know how.

If you have never cleaned it, you definitely should. If there is enough dust buildup blocking the air flow, it can and will overheat.

AFAIK the PS4 is designed to shut down when overheating, not underclock.

The fact the fans are louder suggests the console is under a greater load, causing the slowdown, not that its throttling.
