Can we get a professionals/industry forum?

Roswell

It would be cool to have a forum for people to discuss and ask questions about their computer related professions.

I was thinking maybe a sub forum for creative workers and another for workers in IT.

Would be nice considering that there are so many places to talk about gaming related stuff here but only really general discussion for anything else.

MacBook Pro 16 i9-9980HK - Radeon Pro 5500m 8GB - 32GB DDR4 - 2TB NVME

iPhone 12 Mini / Sony WH-1000XM4 / Bose Companion 20

So kind of like how /r/sysadmin or /r/computertechs exist on reddit?

I assume you're trying to be sarcastic. Almost every board here has an equivalent on Reddit as well.

Oh no, sorry about that! I should have followed up with "if so, then I'm on board" because I really do love talking to others in the IT industry about technology related problems on those subreddits. It's actually how I get relief from my day job, and how I learn & share tricks of the trade, so again, my apologies if I came off sarcastic as I'd love to have an industry professionals subforum for technology pros.

I'm sorry too for assuming, haha. I'm often on Reddit myself and often need to remember people aren't always coming in hot here like they do there.

I believe most already participate in the subforums that are related to their job/interests. Networking, Servers & NAS, Operating Systems, programming, etc. You'll find a lot of the creative types such as photographers and video editors in the Photography and Videography section.

Is there a particular profession or subject that isn't covered by the forum?

Of tech related, many. Like artists (music, 3/2D), GIS (though I would head to Stackoverflow instead). That said, seeing how many threads those get, I don't think it would be needed. If my one thread about issues with GRASS is to show anything...

There are active members with badge. But that's not the point of this thread. Not at all.

Content like that is welcome on the forum already (for example, sysadmin discussion might take place in General Discussion or Servers & NASes depending on the focus), but there isn't enough of it at the moment to justify creating a new section for it. We already have a lot of sections, so creating more when there is very little content to go in it is something that I would like to avoid.
