Minor overclock for a 9600k for an overclock noob

Go to solution Solved by Haro,

if you want you can probably turn mce on and see where that gets you

Hello everybody!

I just updated my rig with a z390 mobo from Asrock and a 9600k. But I wonder if I could squeeze a bit more performance with a minor overclock. Im worried cause my cpu cooler is not that good (Cryorig M9). What settings are safe for a minor but noticeable overclock?

if you have Nvidia GPU i can recommend you try Nvidia Ultra Low Latency Mode, its in nvidia control panel under 3d settings, latency mode, for 9700k it lowers cpu usage slightly and removes 100% cpu usage spikes, but 9700k is 8 core, dont know how it will behave with 9600k, but u can try, ultra low latency mode will also lock ur fps by 5-6fps bellow ur monitor refresh rate, for 144hz it locks at 137 fps

MCE definitely improves my performance, but with a major thermal increase (58c vs 82c). Can I activate it and set the cpu voltage somewhat lower?

Usually it sets an auto profile

You can try to set the profile similarly to mce and then set a lower voltage
