Need help with upgrade or not to a 2080 ti

Hi I have a 2080 super gigabyte paired with a 9900k.

I was thinking to upgrade the GPU to a 2080ti

I found one second hand EVGA 2080 ti xc for 1000$ with warranty.

Worth it?

I play fps games at 1440p

Thanks

Nope I'd wait for the new ampere cards to drop

I don't use higher end cards, so this is my opinion, rather than practical information. Your current card should be fine for the games and resolution you play, so there shouldn't really be any reason to upgrade unless there's something you specifically want to do that your current card can't. Also, spending $1000 on a 2080ti seems like a bad move this late in the development cycle, because current information says that cards with higher TDP's and better manufacturing processes will arrive as soon as September, sporting prices lower than what's currently available.

Imagine this: You buy the $1000 2080ti, and then in September, a card comes out for $700 that performs better than the 2080ti. That would be pretty disappointing, right? Not saying that's gonna happen, but it's at the very least a possibility.

Right now, it's all just speculation, but just in case, I'd advise you to wait until we have a good grasp on all the new stuff to make any purchases.

The 2080 Super is only 12%~ slower than the 2080 Ti at 1440p. Seems like a waste to upgrade IMO.

Why though? Unless you're swimming with money then no.
