Kind of Dissapointed in the wraith prism cooler.

I just completed my second ever build and I am rocking a 3800x with a MSI meg ACE x570 board that was a minor miracle to find on newegg. Everything is fine except for the fact that I have noticed that this CPU runs a little hotter than my i7 8700. I am just using the stock cooler right now and I am getting the mid to high 40s at idle, while I was playing halo 2 anniversary, I was getting from the mid 60s to the mid 70s and when I was playing Fortnite, at 60fps I was at the mid to high 60s and when I cranked it up to 144fps, I was getting the mid to high 70s. It seems like my i7 8700 ran cooler with the terrible stock cooler that Intel provides. I am not sure if these are normal temps for Ryzen or not but I expected AMDs cooler to have better performance.  I had some issues installing it but nothing too major, I imagine if it was a thermal paste issue, I would be getting into the 90s.

3800x is 105 TDP part and the cooler is 105 TDP. i would get another cooler. but those temps seem fine for stock cooler.

I mean, the 3800X has two more cores and 4 more threads compared to your old 8700, and probably similar or higher clocks, depending on how much your i7 was boosting.

Tbh those temperatures sound fine, nothing to worry about. Make sure you're running the latest chipset driver and BIOS, and for Ryzen use either Ryzen Master or HWiNFO to monitor your temperatures, if you aren't already.

there is only so much that style of cooler can do. I always buy a tower.

temperatures seem fine, you cant compare coolers when theyre not on same cpu. also temperature isnt the only measurement to take for coolers, how loud is the cooler makes a difference too

This is pretty good also what type of expectations did you have for a STOCK cooler cooling a 3800x 

This is a pretty hot running chip  with 8 hyper threaded cores 

I'm actually stunned you got that good of temps with the stock cooler
